Magazine Analysis
For this task we had to create a magazine as a practice before we started on our real coursework piece. I decided to take a photo of 'Nathan Merret' who is a student at St Mary's College, this appeals well to other students and gets them interested about what he has to say. I decided to use Fonts such as 'To be continued' and 'Lucida blackletter' as they look quite stylish and modern. This will work well with students as it could be more attractive and inviting to them. Also i used big fonts and bold letters to make the magazine cover more inviting to the students along with very bright attracting colours to make my front cover eye catching. In this photo i had my student looking at the camera and therefore into the audience. This is good direct mode of address as it invites the audience into the magazine and makes them want to see more and also gets the audience more interested with the magazine. On my magazine i have used a title at the top of the page, this is the biggest piece of writing on the page and tells the audience what the magazine is called. This has created the 'brand image'. I took a medium shot of my student which again has direct address on the audience. Next i used a leading caption stating ' Nathan Merret : How to cope with A level pressure'. This is the main story and is very interesting to other students so it will invite them in and make them want to read more and buy the magazine. I used several subheadings for the smaller stories involved in my magazine. Finally i used one strap line and the bottom of the page which was a competition that students could get involved in and win college supplies. I also used a barcode and gave my magazine a price to make it look more believable and more realistic. If i had to change anything on my magazine i think i would of added more text such s subheadings to make my magazine more inviting and involved. I also would of added some colored shapes in to invite my audience in even more and catch their eye. Overall i am very pleased with my magazine cover and really enjoyed myself in the process.
